LEADERS IN MUSCULOSkELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPY |

What is Clinical Pilates?
Clinical Pilates is a
personalized exercise program to assist in spinal and limb stability. Joseph Pilates (1880 -1967) has given his name to
the form of low-impact exercise developed by him in Europe. Pilates was
interested in the mind-body connection, blending aspects of Yoga, Zen
meditation and martial arts. ‘Clinical Pilates’ has flowed from these ideas to
the medical framework, assisting physiotherapists in the rehabilitation of
musculo-skeletal injuries and their prevention. Initially used by Dance Arts, we now know that people from many
different activity and work backgrounds can improve postural and stabilising
muscles using Pilates. With the guidance of a qualified physiotherapist, this
approach is helpful in preventing back pain and lowering the likelihood of it
returning. Who will benefit from Clinical Pilates?
Ringwood Physiotherapy and Spinal
Clinic is available to assist with the management of patients with spinal
pain, including neck and back complaints as well as people wanting additional
fitness and trunk strength. Clinical Pilates aims at treating and managing
patients of all age groups who may be experiencing: · Mechanical
back pain · Ostearthritic
conditions · Obstetric
back pain · Pre
and post spinal surgery pain |

What does it cost?
All
group Pilates sessions cost $30.00 per class. Depending on the level of cover
with your health insurance, you may be reimbursed for the supervised Pilates
session. Please note that if you are a WorkCover, TAC or DVA patient, your
insurance company will pay for the Pilates sessions. What do I need to bring?
You should wear comfortable gym
clothing. Please bring a towel and a bottle of water to your Pilates session. Can we use the equipment at other times?
The
Pilates reformer couch, mats and circuit room is available to clients on an
as-needed basis outside of class times. This is available to people with
experience in the techniques and machines. Please check with your treating
practitioner about this option. A fee for service of $15.00 per session
applies. Future questions?
If you have any further questions,
please contact Ringwood Physiotherapy & Spinal Clinic and speak to one of
our trained consultants. |
